We have created the best routing product in CADSTAR based on our knowledge of what customers really want. A combination of the CADSTAR PCB Design Editor and the world's first graphical gridless routing algorithm technology, which has been refined and optimized to deliver a 100% routing completion, will significantly reduce your design cycle time, get your productivity higher making it possible to Be First.
Angle Free, Grid Free
With a spatial angle free, grid free architecture, a 1/100th Micron resolution database and a 256-layers, P.R.Editor XR is able to cope with the highest density designs currently manufactured.
Routing Combined With Power And Control
Critical areas of a design can be partially or fully manually routed. You can view automatic routing in progress and easily make interactive changes by interrupting the program at any time. Then, automatic routines can complete the task.
Manufacturing Considerations
Smoothing routines, which include via minimization and staircase removal, optimize the routing for high-yield manufacturing. Track necking and fattening combine to automatically produce the maximum possible copper widths on specified nets, while acid trap removal and corner mitering functions further improve manufacturability.
A 'Tool Set' For All Jobs
The P.R.Editor XR series consists of P.R.Editor
XR 2000 Interactive, supplied to all CADSTAR PCB Customers, and optional
XR
2000 L4 / L6 , XR
2000S, or XR
2000 HS. For the more demanding designs the series includes XR
5000 and XR
5000 HS. A range of special innovative algorithms, such as river routing,
data bus pattern routing, memory routing and minimum impact routing, have
been created to reduce the routing task on the most complex designs. Template
routing, high-speed routing and critical net shielding have been written to
cope with today's advanced design requirements, reducing the design cycle
and time-to-market by improving overall manufacturability.
Interactive and Manual Placement
Now with improved placement tools, components can be placed in their optimal, error free location. On dense designs components can be automatically pushed aside to create valuable space.
Breakout Patterns
Using the Footprint option, fan-out and fan-in footprint patterns can be created and stored for use on the finest pitch devices, saving space and allowing higher completion rates for the automatic router.
Testpoint Analysis
Either during routing, or on the completed design, testpoints can be inserted using SMT or through hole testpoints. You have fine control over the type of testpoint to be used, the side or sides it occupies and whether it is inserted automatically during routing or manually as a post routing task. Testpoints are inserted by using push-aside technology and with intelligence if a pad or via are designated "no probe" points forcing the automatic routine to insert a new landing site.
Routability Analysis
CADSTAR's routability analyzer predicts the autorouting completion before any routing takes place. This saves you valuable time. You won't waste it routing a design which could be done using fewer layers or trying to route complex boards that cannot be fully autorouted unless settings or design parameters are changed.
Embedded P.R.Editor XR

The embedded place & route products are supplied alongside Zuken's standalone P.R.Editor XR. These tools are embedded within the CADSTAR Design Editor utilizing the same Graphical User Interface. This allows the user to decide which best serves their needs. The Embedded P.R.Editor XR is available in interactive and 2000 modes only.

The P.R.Editor XR 2000 series was developed to deliver a cost efficient place and route tool for handling the most demanding design requirements today.

P.R.Editor XR 2000 L4 / P.R.Editior XR 2000 L6
- Functionality Matrix
The P.R.Editor XR 2000 L4 / L6 are for designs with upto 4 or 6 electrical electrical layers respectively (or 2 electrical and 2 powerplanes or any other combination of layers up to 4 for P.R.Editor XR 2000 L4 and 4 electrical and 2 powerplanes or any other combination of layers up to 6 for P.R.Editor XR 2000 L6).
Should a PCB design be read into P.R.Editor XR 2000 L4 or P.R.Editor XR 2000 L6 with more than 4 or 6 layers respectively, the P.R.Editor variant will revert back to P.R.Editor Interactive. This will allow the user to work on designs with an unlimited number of layers but the router will operate at a reduced level of functionality.
The P.R.Editor XR 2000 L4 / L6 is an option available to any CADSTAR PCB Customer available in stand alone mode. It contains all the features of P.R.Editor XR Interactive along with:-

P.R.Editor XR 2000 S

The P.R.Editor XR 2000 S is an option available to any CADSTAR PCB Customer. It delivers class leading high-speed routing tools using circuit rules based on length. These rules can be added to CADSTAR Schematic Capture and transferred to PCB and the P.R.Editor Constraint Manager. In addition to all features of P.R.Editor XR 2000 it also includes:-
- Constraint Manager, an easy to use spreadsheet interface where all high-speed routing constraints can be set and results measured
- Net and pin branch ordering rules

It includes the Zuken Field Solver, which analyses the PCB and maps the parasitic effects caused by the PCB make up. This allow Graphical crosstalk analysis to locate crosstalk errors between tracks and across multiple layer of the design. Using these results the problems can be Automatically resolved In addition to all features of P.R.Editor XR 2000 S it also includes:-
