Schematics: CADSTAR Schematic Capture

A Natural System For Designers
The CADSTAR design environment's schematic capture front end, which compliments the CADSTAR PCB design editor, is the natural system for a complete and totally integrated solution.

Error Free Transfer To PCB
CADSTAR provides a smooth and error free transition between Schematics and PCB using a binary transfer mechanism. One touch and the schematic is converted to the PCB. No netlists or translation are required. Engineering change orders (ECOs) are also transferred by a binary mechanism using the schematic design as the reference.

Cross Probing Between Applications
Because Schematics and PCB is totally integrated within the same CADSTAR MDI, the designs can be run and viewed simultaneously while allowing cross probing both ways and messaging to make selections within the design. This also includes uni-directional cross probing to P.R.Editor XR 2000. This gives you the ability to drive the router directly from the schematic design.

With the schematic and the corresponding PCB displayed, just click on a component, and CADSTAR highlights the same component in the other application. You never lose a thing. If a component has placement notes on it in Schematic, CADSTAR displays both applications so you can easily see that the transfer of information has been made.

Design Reuse
Schematic designs can be created flat or hierarchically at up to 70 levels. With the ability to open multiple schematics at the same time, sections of designs can be reused simply by 'copying' and 'pasting' from one sheet to another. All connectivity is retained as well as part names and net names. Multiple instances of reference designators can be checked and corrected to make them unique and ready for use on the PCB using an automatic process.

You won't ever have to redraw proven designs. Just copy and paste.

Upfront PCB Design Constraint Rules
Using CADSTAR Schematics allows information required in the PCB Design to be built-in early on by the design engineer. All constraints required to drive EMC Adviser, high-speed P.R.Editor XR 2000 and Signal Integrity can be designed in, upfront and automatically passed through to the PCB design where it is picked up for use in the advanced feature options. Using the schematic capture functionality for PCB 'capture' in logical form, CADSTAR Schematics is ideal. Any advanced attribute information and net detail doesn't need to be added until required, keeping things simple, saving both time and money.

By entering all attributes at the schematic level, you'll create more accurate designs up front. There will be less rework and shorter design cycles, not to mention less frustration during the design process, making it possible to Be First.

Easy To Learn And Use
The interface is shared with that used in the CADSTAR PCB Design Editor; so that the learning process and familiarization of the tools is only undertaken once. CADSTAR has been designed to be easy to learn and use for occasional and everyday users.

Interfaces To The Outside World
With a standard PSpice netlist output and the powerful report generator capable of generating almost any complex netlist, potentially any format netlist is possible. This, combined with OLE capabilities, makes CADSTAR Schematics a highly desirable schematic capture choice.

You won't work alone when you use CADSTAR. You'll be supported by a wealth of complimentary tools.
